The symbolism of the vine is referenced throughout the Old and New Testaments of the

Bible, most notably in John 15 when Jesus says to his disciples: 5 “I am the Vine; you are

the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me

you can do nothing.” – By comparison, the Cardinal is not mentioned even one time in

scripture, yet it is an example of God as a creator. Striking in appearance and singing a

familiar song, the Cardinal is God’s symbol of passion, strength and perseverance as it

braves any season with grace. Just the sight of its crimson wings can remind us that

there is hope…if we know where to look.
