The symbolism of the vine is referenced throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, most notably in John 15 when Jesus says to his disciples: 5 “I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – By comparison, the butterfly, while it is not mentioned in scripture, it holds so much symbolism in our lives, from new beginnings to a renewal of the spirit, hope and life. With this sculpture, I have taken a delicate butterfly and tempered it with fire to illustrate the trials that we all experience throughout our lives. But if we rest our faith on the vine of Jesus, we can be renewed
